Ap top 25 basketball: AP Top 25: TCU earns greatest ranking in 16 years in women’s basketball. On Monday, TCU received its highest position in 16 years in The Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll, while the top 12 teams, led by No. 1 South Carolina, did not change.
The Horned Frogs moved into the rankings after upsetting then-No. 13 North Carolina State on Sunday.
It was the team’s first ranking win since 2021, as well as its first victory against a top-15 opponent in six seasons. TCU has reached its highest placement in the poll since 2008, when it was also 19th.
“It means a lot as we build this program,” Mark Campbell, the coach at TCU, stated. “A lot of progress has been achieved. With a conference rating of 1–17, the program was at its lowest point when I took it. Last year’s crew set a strong foundation for this season.
The Gamecocks continued to be the team that most people thought was the greatest, receiving 31 first-place votes from a panel of national journalists.
They outscored both of their opponents by an average of 36.5 points last week. On Sunday, fifth-ranked South Carolina will travel to UCLA.
South Carolina was followed by No. 2 UConn, No. 3 USC, and No. 4 Texas. On Saturday, Notre Dame, ranked sixth, travels west to meet the Trojans in a top-10 matchup. The first ten are completed by LSU, Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Kansas State.
