Moscow denounces Ukraine for launching longer-range missiles manufactured in the US into Russia for the first time

Moscow denounces Ukraine for launching longer-range missiles manufactured in the US into Russia for the first time... According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, Ukraine has shot US-made ATACMS missiles into the Bryansk area of Russia, a major escalation on the 1,000th day of the conflict.

Two days prior to the attack, the Biden administration had authorized Kyiv to employ American munitions with a longer range against targets inside Russia.

The report was not immediately answered by Kyiv. The action demonstrates that Kyiv has wasted no time in asserting its recently acquired capabilities as it is the first time Ukraine has employed longer-range American missiles to hit targets deep within Russia.

According to the ministry, Ukraine fired six ballistic missiles toward a point in Bryansk on Tuesday at 3:25 a.m. local time (7:25 p.m. ET). It said the hit was carried out using ATACMS missiles manufactured in the United States.

Five missiles were shot down and another was damaged, according to Russian air defenses.

The damaged missile’s fragments landed on a military base’s property, where they started a fire that has since been put out. There were no damage or casualties.

US President Joe Biden lifted a months-long ban on Ukraine using longer-range American missiles inside Russia on Sunday, allowing Ukraine to defend itself without risking a significant escalation of the conflict.

At a pivotal point in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the choice was made. Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine’s power grid and weaponize the cold weather for the third straight winter by exploding strategic cities with missile and drone strikes and probing the front lines in eastern Ukraine.

In the meantime, the Ukrainian military launched a bold operation this summer in the Kursk region of Russia, where thousands of North Korean forces have been stationed.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller described North Korea’s intervention in the issue as “a major escalation by Russia, bringing an Asian military to a conflict inside Europe.” Moscow denounces Ukraine for launching longer-range missiles manufactured in the US into Russia for the first time
